SALARY: $18-$24/HR.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist in preserving the Bank's assets by controlling delinquent loan accounts and negative balances, collecting delinquent payments, and recovering collateral. Initiates notification and customer contact relating to overdue loan accounts and deposit account overdrafts; arranges for, and processes repayment of credit due the Bank. Monitors bankruptcy filings, and commences and tracks foreclosure, repossession, and other collection actions.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Associate's Degree in business, finance or related area or equivalent experience within a financial institution, collections department, or similar area
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to effectively communicate over the phone in a professional manner
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel and basic computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational, planning and analytical skills
- Experience in the customer service industry preferred
- Prior knowledge of lending and collection practices a plus
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initiate and sustain frequent contact with at-risk customers to resolve delinquencies and minimize loan losses
- Arrange repayment schedules or other solutions with customers to collect credit owed and reduce losses to the Bank
- Handle incoming calls; speak with customers and employees to answer questions and resolve problems
- Charge off negative account balances; post recoveries to charged off accounts
- Complete monthly charge offs of negative account balances in core system; apply and reconcile
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies of misapplied payments
- Provide superior customer service to external and internal customers
- Document communication and collection actions within the Bank's collection software system
- Work independently and as part of a team environment, take initiative, and organize multiple tasks within required deadlines
- Collaborate with Third Party Collection Agencies and bank attorneys, and reconcile related reports
- Maintain proficient knowledge of, and demonstrate ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to this position, ensure ongoing adherence to pertinent policies, procedures, and internal controls, and meet all job-specific training requirements in a timely fashion
- Review and ensure that policies and procedures align with Bank Policies; stay up to date with Collection regulations and bankruptcy regulations and implement accordingly
- Discuss, prepare and obtain approval from appropriate staff for payment extensions
- Become familiar with legal documentation and possess the ability to explain to borrowers
- Research and respond to credit bureau disputes
- Completes Core system file maintenance for new or modified loan accounts, as time allows.
- Assist Loan Servicing staff with processing payments, payoffs and corrections to loan accounts, as time allows.

BANK SECRECY ACT (BSA)
Before assuming any duties, each employee will be trained in the proper filing and logging procedures for large currency transactions and the sale of monetary instruments.
Each employee will immediately report suspicious currency transactions or activity to their immediate supervisor or the BSA Officer.
All employees will become familiar with how their customers handle their accounts and will report any transactions that are not within the normal activities of the customer.
The employee will be trained in compliance with the BSA, USA PATRIOT ACT and associated laws and regulations under the Bank's Compliance Program as it pertains to his or her job functions. Employees are expected to meet all compliance requirements as stated within the Bank's BSA/AML/CIP/OFAC Program. Failure to meet these compliance standards may adversely affect performance appraisals and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Employee's compliance violations may result in termination, individual fines, and possible imprisonment.
