At the City of Richmond, we work diligently and collectively as one organization to continue Richmond's legacy of being a wonderful community for employees, citizens, and visitors to work, play, and live. The Building Department is currently recruiting for a "Code Enforcement Officer."
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Investigates code and ordinance violations as well as complaints generated by residents and agencies regarding housing, residential/commercial buildings, land use, zoning, businesses, and other property complaints. In addition, the Code Enforcement Officer proactively promotes programs to educate citizens, residents, and business owners regarding code and zoning compliance. The position will manage time related to phone calls, email inquiries, and other administrative support tasks conducted in an office, as well as work in the field investigating enforcement cases.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous code enforcement field experience OR similar enforcement experience in a private industry OR experience in building inspections, fire inspections, health inspections, and associate degree.
- Within six (6) months of employment, must possess or be able to obtain Basic Code Enforcement Officer certification conforming with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) or the International Code Council (ICC).
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
- Municipal experience preferred.
