The Tool Grinder will be responsible for sharpening, repairing, and maintaining a variety of cutting tools used in the fabrication of aerostructure components. This role requires a strong understanding of grinding principles, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while adhering to strict quality control procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Sharpen and maintain a variety of cutting tools used in CNC machining centers, including drills, end mills, reamers, and taps.
· Select appropriate grinding wheels and setups based on tool type and material.
· Operate and maintain a variety of grinding machines, including conventional and CNC grinders.
· Inspect sharpened tools using precision measuring instruments to ensure they meet dimensional specifications and surface finish requirements.
· Maintain accurate records of grinding operations, including tool identification, type of operation performed, and grinding wheel used.
· Follow established safety protocols while operating grinding machines and handling cutting tools.
· May assist in troubleshooting tool performance issues and recommending solutions.
· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize grinding processes.
· Performs other duties as required and assigned Management.
Requirements:Required Skills / Experience:
· Experience sharpening and maintaining a variety of cutting tools used in metal machining (CNC or manual).
· Strong understanding of grinding principles, including wheel selection, setup techniques, and coolant applications.
· Familiarity with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) (a plus).
· Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to precise tolerances.
· Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
· Ability to work independently and follow established procedures.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Required: Compliant with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), which requires U.S. Person status (ITAR defines U.S. Person as a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.)
Educational Qualification and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
· Minimum 2 years of experience in a tool grinding role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
