About the Job
Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled CNC Programmer to join our manufacturing team. The CNC Programmer will be responsible for creating and optimizing programs for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines used to produce precision parts and components. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of CNC programming languages, machining processes, and the ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure that parts are manufactured accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
CNC Programming: Write, test, and optimize CNC programs for a variety of machines (e.g., mills, lathes, grinders) using G-code, CAD/CAM software, or other programming languages.
Blueprint Interpretation: Review and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to determine machining requirements, dimensions, tolerances, and tooling specifications.
Tool Selection: Choose appropriate tools, materials, and cutting parameters for each job to ensure optimal performance and part quality.
Machine Setup: Assist in the setup and calibration of CNC machines, including loading parts, setting tool offsets, and ensuring correct machine settings before production runs.
Quality Control: Conduct in-process inspections of parts to ensure they meet design specifications and quality standards. Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and CMMs (coordinate measuring machines) to verify dimensions.
Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any programming or machining issues that arise during production. Adjust machine settings, tools, or programs as needed to maintain product quality and production efficiency.
Process Improvement: Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for process optimization, cycle time reduction, and improved part quality.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of programs, tool setups, and revisions. Document any changes or modifications to programs and ensure proper version control.
Maintenance & Upkeep: Ensure that CNC machines are properly maintained and perform routine checks to ensure machines are operating efficiently.
Collaboration: Work closely with machinists, engineers, and production staff to ensure that all manufacturing processes are aligned with project requirements and deadlines.
Qualifications:
Experience: 3+ years of experience as a CNC Programmer, CNC Machinist, or in a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills: Proficient in CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code, FANUC, Haas, Siemens), and experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion).
Blueprint Reading: Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
Machining Knowledge: Deep understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and materials (metals, plastics, composites, etc.).
Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve programming and machining issues quickly.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in creating and verifying CNC programs to ensure part precision and quality.
Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of CNC machine safety protocols and general manufacturing safety practices.
