Our client is looking for a skilled CNC Programmer to join their team. Our client is a family-owned business that has been around for 60 years. They are engineers and manufacturers of aluminum, cast iron and steel components for the transportation and energy industries (metals). Priding themselves on their tight-knit culture, this client is located in a small lake town, and with that brings in career development and growth opportunities. The position would require on-site work.
Position Summary: As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for programming multiple types of computer automated sheet metal fabrication machines such as plasma tables, turret punches and panel benders. You will be collaborating with engineering and operations teams to process sheet metal parts modeled with 3D CAD software and create and maintain the CNC files required to fabricate those parts on their respective machines. This involves reviewing technical drawings in order to develop machine cutting paths and bending programs that will optimize production while maintaining quality that complies with industry standards. You will work with Quality Control to review the fabrication quality levels achieved by your machine programs and make any needed adjustments or corrections. With sufficient time and experience, CNC Programmers would be expected to help evaluate new parts for manufacturability and make practical recommendations to Engineering or to the Shop Floor that would lead to improved quality and efficiency.
CNC Programmer Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a similar manufacturing setting is required
- Previous experience with CNC programming of turret punches is required
- Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
- Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving technical or logistical problems that arise
- Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential
- Must have strong attention to detail
- Good verbal & written communication skills
- Should have a positive and professional attitude
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Prima Power Shear Brilliance or EBe Express Bender machines
- Familiarity with SigmaNest, NC Express or MasterBend CAM programming software
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software
- Panel bender programming experience
- Basic Machine and CAD experience
- Sheet metal fabrication experience
- Ability to understand and comprehend BOMs
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word/Excel/Access)
