Hexcel is currently seeking a CNC Programmer for our Amesbury, MA location.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
- Analyzing engineering drawings, specifications and verbal instruction to plan a manufacturing strategy
- Creating efficient toolpath machining strategies using MasterCAM for milling programs
- Developing fixtures and work holding jigs for machining unique components
- Creating detailed setup sheets and work instructions
- Modifying current production programs and fixtures to improve efficiency
- Setting up and running various CNC machinery (3-axis, 5-axis, EDM, waterjet) and machining prototype or low quantity run parts when required
- Occasionally design 2D wireframe / 3D solid models from a blueprint or sketch to create CNC programs
- Select correct programs, loading and setting up tools and parts.
- Cost new products by providing material cost and processing time for fixturing, as well as set up and run time to produce parts.
- Perform other varying duties including, but not limited to: completing reports and records, running daily calibrations, basic machine maintenance, training operators, and troubleshooting production issues.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2+ years' programming experience utilizing MasterCAM X or newer software
- 2+ years' experience working in a Machine Shop - setting up and operating CNC and manual machines
- Experience with troubleshooting CNC programs
- Must be able to read blueprints with an understanding of GD&T
- Ability to decipher and edit NC code as required
- Communicate well with others and to interact with individuals on the floor as a team.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a government Security Clearance
