About the Job
Our R&D/Tool Room Department is in need of a CNC Operator-Programmer who has hands on experience with various types of CNC equipment. Extreme plus to experience with HAAS VF2 machine center and HAAS ST25 lathe.
The CNC Operator is responsible for shop floor program editing, operating and maintaining CNC machine centers consisting of vertical and horizontal mills and CNC lathe. Experience with Fanuc, and HAAS controls with knowledge of CamWorks must be a constant effort of achievement. Proficient in selecting machine and cutting tools, perform all tool set up and basic maintenance. Employee must be comfortable taking drawing or verbal instructions directly from engineering to part production, reverse production, existing copy and all steps between.
Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):
- Shop Floor programming for initial operation, transfer and editing.
- Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
- Knowledge and initiative to retrofit machines for operation as needed.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, but can work with existing physical components to reproduce without prints.
- Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
- Ability to setup, operate and troubleshoot CNC lathes and mills without assistance. Must be self-sufficient.
- Ability to reduce setup time and machining through process improvements.
- Must be proficient with HAAS and FANUC control.
- Understands, interprets and edits G-code programming.
- Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling.
- Understands and has the ability to perform tool wear offsets.
- Assists in the organization and maintenance of the machine shop work environment, must be able and willing to perform bench work (injection mold repair and all machine shop practices) as requested.
- Shop Floor program transfer and editing.
- Ability to setup and operate CNC machining centers.
- Calculate and set controls for proper machining.
- Verify conformity and quality of finished parts.
- Selecting and maintaining tools and fixtures.
- Perform all regular maintenance and accuracy checks to ensure proper machine function.
- Consult with the engineering department and production supervisor to resolve machining or assembly issues.
- Provides constant feedback and input into process improvement within the department.
- Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
- Communicates thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and management.
- Communicates honestly, professionally and respectfully with others and demonstrates effective listening skills.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Certification or Associates Degree in Machine Technology, Precision Machining, or CNC Operations or 5+ years related experience is beneficial
- Prefer 5 years' experience in machining field or working in a machine shop
- Complete job routing
- Must be able to communicate effectively and understand technical instructions
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Work overtime as necessary
Schedule:
- Mon-Fri 7:00am-3:30pm; must be willing to work overtime and on the weekends if needed
