CNC Machinist SHIFT HOURS/DAYS:
Monday-Friday, overtime and weekends available
- 1st shift: 7:00am-3:15pm
- 2nd shift: 3:00pm-11:15pm
Job Summary
Set up and operate conventional, special purpose and/or numeric control machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts and fits and assembles machined parts into complete units, applying knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, maintainability of materials and layout techniques.
Role and Responsibilities
- Read blueprint and job order for product specifications and tooling instructions such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of parts to be processed.
- Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on materials or workpiece as a guide for subsequent machining.
- Verify dimensions of finished work piece for conformance to specifications using optical comparator, gage blocks and gage pins.
- Select, align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials on the machine.
- Start and observe the operation of the machine to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust machine controls as needed.
- Perform 1st piece and In-process inspections to verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
- Perform required daily maintenance to equipment and tools.
- Perform ERP transactions.
- Communicate with co-workers, members of other shifts, technical leader, team leader and/or supervisor to transfer and receive instructions and information as well as coordinate activities regarding the status of the operation of particular jobs.
- Will perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
- Implement continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Experience in medical device manufacturing, aerospace, machinery, metals, health, consumer goods a plus.
- Must be able to read blueprints, drawings, specifications and quality plans and have very strong oral and written communication skills, be able to follow written and verbal instructions and be capable of meeting assigned deadlines.
- Good manual dexterity and ability to use measurement and inspection tools like micrometers, microscope, etc. Good work habits, strong workmanship and a positive attitude are required.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 6 months experience as a machinist in a small device manufacturing environment is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent performing repetitive work.
- Occasional lifting (max. 40 lbs.)
- Occasional carrying (max. 40 lbs.)
- Subject to physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts
