CNC Machinist
1st shift
Contract (3-6 months)
Pay rates: Open/DOE
Seeking for a shop machinist and coordinator to assist the engineering staff in the production of R&D prototypes. This individual will be responsible for setting up and operation of both manual and CNC machines, deburring and inspecting parts. The applicant must be able to work with limited supervision and support. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with the ability to multitask exceptionally well.
Requirements
- Ability to read complex engineered prints and anticipate appropriate machining methods needed
- Ability to use manual lathe and milling machines
- Ability to program CNC machines to correctly machine parts
- Understanding of G-code
- Familiarity with CAD programs including SolidWorks
- Understanding of shop math and working knowledge of metric units
Responsibilities Include
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment for all employees by following company safety rules, regulations, and procedures. Enforce and adhere to all PPE requirements. Contribute to a safety-first culture by identifying risky situations
- Machine parts from drawings to designated tolerances (manual and CNC)
- Accurately program machines according to engineered prints
- Understand, calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors including speed, feed, coolant flow
- Managing projects and part production to meet scheduled due dates
- Support staff engineers with questions about machining and manufacturing processes
- Provide limited training and advice to engineers working in the machine shop (manual equipment only).
- Solve unique manufacturing challenges including custom tooling and work holding
- Perform preventive and periodic maintenance on machines
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working with manual and CNC machine tools
- Excellent time management and workflow coordination skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- AS degree in Engineering Technology with Precision Manufacturing Certification is a plus.
