About the Job
We are seeking a skilled CNC Engineer to join our AS9100-certified small family owned machine shop. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in CNC programming, production, and process optimization, coupled with a degree in a related engineering field. This role is instrumental in ensuring high-quality, efficient CNC operations for aerospace and precision manufacturing.
Programming & Setup:
- Develop, test, and optimize CNC programs for multi-axis lathes, mills, and grinders using CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks).
- Create machine setups and tooling plans to ensure repeatability and precision in production.
Production Oversight:
- Monitor CNC production processes to meet quality standards and maintain AS9100 compliance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues to minimize downtime and scrap.
- Collaborate with machinists and operators to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to production schedules.
Process Improvement:
- Analyze production metrics and identify areas for improvement in efficiency, cost, and quality.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Review and refine work instructions and processes for consistency and accuracy.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure all parts meet tight tolerances and customer specifications.
- Support first-article inspections (FAI) and resolve quality concerns in coordination with QA.
Collaboration & Reporting:
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to support project goals.
- Document and report production results, issues, and improvement plans to leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in CNC programming, setup, and production within an AS9100-certified environment.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SolidWorks, or similar).
- Solid understanding of CNC machinery, including multi-axis lathes and mills.
- Knowledge of AS9100 standards and practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices is a plus.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
