Absolute Staffing & Consulting Solutions is seeking on the behalf of one of our premier clients is seeking to hire a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with an ability to work effectively with medical staff, officers, and offenders.
In this position you will integrate nursing care between professional disciplines; assist with caring for the mental health and physical needs of offenders; provide quality nursing care as part of an interdisciplinary team; observe, report, document, and communicate interventions, treatments, behaviors, emergency needs, and medical situations as they arise for the offenders.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the State Illinois.
- Have some experience working in a hospital, nursing, or secure patient environment.
- Skilled in the use of computers and electronic health records.
- Have demonstrated ability to take and record vital signs; transfer and transport patients in a safe manner using proper body mechanics; recognize signs and symptoms indicating distress; and to perform CPR if needed.
- Have good patient assessment skills.
- Have good documentation skills.
- Be detail oriented.
- Can work well with medical staff, officers, and offenders.
Principle Duties:
- Assist inmates with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and other related tasks.
- Assist in checking vital signs, height, and weight as assigned; collects and maintains records of fluid intake and output; reports on the condition of inmates.
- Follow established inflection control practices and emergency protocols.
- Assist inmates in wheelchairs, on stretchers, and ambulating.
- Promote and encourage patient hydration and elimination.
- Assist inmates with ambulation, turning and repositioning, and range of motion activities.
- Cleanse bedside units, workrooms, and equipment; assists nursing staff with washing and sterilizing equipment.
- Prepares and maintains written reports and records as assigned.
- Assist with medications ordinarily self-administered when specifically ordered by a physician.
- Receives formal and on-the-job training in the theory and techniques of direct care support.
- Receives close supervision; work is reviewed through inspections and observations.
- Maintains confidentiality of inmate records.
- Approaches change in a positive manner.
Typical Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must have: Illinois CNA Certificate.
Additional Desired Qualifications include:
- Knowledge of patient care, personal care techniques, and infection control measures.
- Demonstrated ability to take and record vital signs; to transfer and transport patients in a safe manner using proper body mechanics; to recognize signs and symptoms indicating distress; and to perform CPR.
- Appropriately intervene in crisis or problem situations.
- Ability to work in a secure/locked environment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, take initiative, organize duties, and manage time.
Supplemental Information:
- State of Illinois Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certificate is required.
- Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
- Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, reach, lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and/or for long periods of time.
