The Adult Day Center of Williamsburg Landing, a CARF-accredited Life Plan Community, seeks a Part Time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to assist participants with personal needs and encourage participation in structured, engaging activities. The ideal candidate will understand aging and disability care practices and take initiative to engage and support the physical, emotional, and cognitive needs and abilities of all program participants.
Scheduled hours will range within 8:30 am -5:00 pm Monday-Friday. An occasional Saturday may be required when the Center offers programming on a weekend.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Interacts therapeutically with participants to reduce anxiety, reinforce positive attitudes and encourage active engagement
- Assists participants with social, recreational, leisure and work activities to provide seamless activities throughout the day
- Assists participants with personal care needs and ADLs
- Follows a written plan of care and daily routine for each participant
- Assists with mobility, transfers and escorts participants to and from transportation
- Assists Program Director with health monitoring activities
- Monitors & documents behavior, orientation, physical and cognitive abilities and general health status and keeps Program Director informed of changes
- Monitors safety of the environment and reports needs or problems to the supervisor immediately
- Maintains infection control standards including proper hand washing
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain certification
- One or more (1+) years of work experience in a healthcare or community setting with aged and/or disabled individuals, preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to perform duties in accordance with accepted methods and techniques necessary in providing optimal care
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Ability to assist other licensed personnel as needed
- Ability to use a variety of health care equipment and supplies such as thermometers and blood pressure cuffs, in a safe manner
- Ability to regularly and safely lift a minimum of 35 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
Employees may be required to work overtime when conditions that affect business needs make such scheduling necessary.
