Program and operate CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and Smart Scope Vision System (OGP, equivalents) including the programming of New Tooling programs, also includes manufacturing: First Piece (Set-Up) and in-process inspection routines. Expert Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Requires basic knowledge of statistics. Train and support department inspectors and manufacturing personnel in CMM, Vision or general inspection tools and techniques. Develop concepts for fixtures needed for measurement. Be able to use statistical software used in measurement and interpret resulting data. Supply support data needed to interface with Manufacturing, Engineering, Tooling, NPD and customers to resolve Quality issues.
Job Functions:
- Program and run Vision/Laser/Touch Probe systems (OGP or equivalent). Develop inspection routines and methods including concepts for fixtures and gages. Interpret blueprints and specifications related to geometric tolerancing, gauging, statistical requirements, control plan and other customer/internal requirements.
- Participate with Manufacturing Engineering, Tooling, New Product Development providing measurement data and analysis for existing and new products.
- Participate with Project Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering in the development of PFMEAs, Control Plans and Process Flows.
- Participate on 8D Teams (Corrective Action)
- Assist training inspectors I, II, III and manufacturing personnel in general inspection methods and software related to CMM and Vision/Laser/Touch Probe and other equipment as needed.
- Prepare data reports; including statistical.
- First piece, in process and final inspection as needed.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- A two-year college degree (AS) or experience (3 yrs. min) with CMM, Vision, Blueprints, GDT and Statistics.
- Three years’ experience in Quality Control/Assurance and Mechanical Inspection. Must be proficient in blueprint interpretation, geometric tolerance and statistics. Must have general computer skills in Excel.
- 3-5 years’ experience in Quality Control/Assurance in a tight tolerance industry with an automotive and medical customer base.
- Requires verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information to people of various degrees of ability.
- Must be organized and detail oriented.
- Understands automotive and medical industry quality requirements and ISO 9000, TS 16949 Automotive and ISO 13485 Medical Requirements.
- Must be competent using MS (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), applicable CMM and Vision programming software and statistical software.
