About the Job
Our Cloud Solutions team is expanding and seeking a proactive, self-motivated individual to join us as a Cloud Operations Specialist. This role will be instrumental in supporting and optimizing AWS-hosted applications, as well as collaborating across various teams to migrate critical on-premises applications to AWS. Join us in shaping our cloud services roadmap and building AWS expertise within our Technology Delivery Services group (TDS).
Key Responsibilities:
System Performance and Maintenance (50%): Ensure optimal system performance through tuning and capacity planning across all systems. Evaluate and recommend technology enhancements, best practices, and cost optimizations for both cloud and on-premises infrastructures. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy new technologies and transitions.
System Design and Improvement (20%): Initiate and refine complex systems and procedures, developing detailed technical specifications with significant organizational impact. Analyze user needs, document requirements, and mitigate risks to enhance scalability, stability, efficiency, and security of AWS-hosted software solutions.
Interpersonal Communication (20%): Utilize strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels. Communicate technical information clearly and concisely, facilitating knowledge sharing and training across teams.
Industry Standards and Leadership (10%): Apply deep understanding of industry best practices and organizational policies to lead technical teams across multiple projects, ensuring alignment with departmental and organizational goals.
Experience:
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 8 years of experience in related IT roles.
Skills and Abilities:
Required Qualifications:
Extensive hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, security groups, S3, and IAM.
Advanced proficiency in RedHat Linux OS administration, including patch management and security protocols.
Ability to quickly acquire new technical skills through comprehensive research and analysis, delivering clear recommendations.
Strong grasp of business and process analysis, applying technology solutions to meet cross-functional business needs.
Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and in diverse teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Knowledgeable in traditional and cloud-based security tools, implementing best practices across application layers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IAC) tools like Terraform.
Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Datadog, AWS SSM, and Patch Manager.
Exposure to configuration management tools like Puppet Enterprise or Ansible.
Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience/training.
Licenses and Certifications:

AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional.
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate.
