About the Job
As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the stability, security, and efficiency of our Customer Production infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on Linux systems, Oracle databases, on-premises infrastructure, and AWS cloud services.
Responsibilities:
Linux System Management:
- Install, configure, and manage Linux servers to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability.
- Install, configure, and manage Xen (XCP-ng) Virtualization to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize server resources.
- Implement and maintain system backups, disaster recovery plans, and security protocols.
- Automate routine tasks and processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
Oracle Database Administration:
- Manage Oracle database instances, ensuring data integrity, availability, and performance.
- Perform database installations, upgrades, and patches in accordance with industry best practices.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize query performance.
- Troubleshoot database issues and implement appropriate solutions.
On-Premises Infrastructure:
- Maintain and manage on-premises servers, storage systems, and network devices.
- Deploy and configure new hardware and software, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
- Collaborate with other teams to plan and execute infrastructure expansions and upgrades.
AWS and RDS Management:
- Set up and manage AWS environments, including EC2 instances, RDS databases, and networking components.
- Implement security measures and best practices to safeguard AWS resources.
- Monitor AWS resources for performance, cost, and security compliance.
- Optimize AWS services to meet performance and scalability requirements.
Security and Compliance:
- Ensure systems and databases are compliant with industry standards and company policies.
- Implement security measures, including access controls, firewalls, and encryption, to protect sensitive data.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.
Documentation and Collaboration:
- Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including architecture diagrams, configurations, standard operating procedures, work instructions and how to documents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support SaaS Operations projects and initiatives.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer, with at least 10 years of experience in Linux and Oracle database administration.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services, especially RDS, EC2, and networking components.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl for automation.
- Experience with on-premises infrastructure management, including servers, storage, and network devices.
- In-depth understanding of security best practices and implementing security measures.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
