POSITION OBJECTIVE:
The position of Clinical Assistant Health Science Careers is done for the purpose of assisting the teacher to train students to become nursing assistants.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
• Provide assistance to the instructor and students in the clinical/field site settings.
• Maintaining computer records and lists.
• Work with lead teacher to manage student clinical sites, including daily student clinical assignments.
• Supervise students in clinical or field site settings during the school and beyond school hours as required to support each student in meeting state required 40 training hours in approved health care sites as a nursing assistant.
• Assist instructor with teaching and reinforcement of basic skills and management of curriculum required for certification as nursing students.
• Assist in maintaining student records and student assessment.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports directly to and is supervised by Health Science teacher
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: (positions in this class typically require):
Required:
• Minimum one year experience within the past three years in caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any age, or both.
• Must complete training in and adhere to district infection control plan
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this class typically require)
• Must hold a current Washington state license to practice as a registered or licensed practical nurse. (An application as instructional staff must be approved by the Washington State Nursing Commission. Assistance with this application can be provided by BSD staff. The Commission may deny or withdraw an instructor's approval if there is or has been any action taken against a health care license or any license held by the applicant which allows him or her to work with vulnerable populations.)
• Current Wa state LPN or RN license
• CPR and first aid certification is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects..
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
CTSA salary level 4 $ 36.33/hour, 3 hours/day 12:30pm-3:30pm for an approximate 24 day assignment. This position is temporary-hourly and does not include benefits.
