Clinical Staff Pharmacist - Lead FT Day/Evening M-F rotating weekends
Position Objective:
The Lead Clinical Staff Pharmacist for centralized and/or decentralized services facilitates and oversees the unit-based services and/or centralized services provided by clinical staff pharmacists. This responsibility includes ensuring efficacy, efficiency, and quality of evidence-based pharmacotherapy, improving patient care, and adherence to protocols and polices of the department. In addition, the Lead Clinical Staff Pharmacist ensures adherence and compliance with current best practices, regulations, policies/protocols and procedures of the department.

- Performs essential job duties of clinical staff pharmacist approximately 80% of the time.
- Works in conjunction with the Pharmacy Leadership team to assist in development and implementation of changes in departmental operations
- Identifies staffing concerns, workload issues or policy/protocol clarifications and ensures their resolution. In certain instances, consults with Clinical Inpatient Pharmacy Manager and Operations Manager as necessary.
- Schedules Clinical Staff Pharmacists in accordance with departmental needs and scheduling standards (may delegate as needed). Approves vacation requests and resolves vacation conflicts.
- Conducts monthly rounds and participates in performance improvement plans for assigned staff as needed.
- Reviews clinical staff pharmacist interventions and metrics as necessary to improve performance within the department.
- Maintains relevant departmental dashboards as appropriate.
- Oversees development, coordination, and management of centralized and unit-based clinical projects/protocols.
- Participates in leadership team meetings and serves as the pharmacy representative on select multidisciplinary committees in the hospital
- Participates in performance improvement plans and yearly performance appraisals for assigned staff.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
The minimum level of education and experience for this position includes:
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree required; Bachelor’s degree is acceptable
- Completion of PGY-1 residency or 2 years of demonstrated inpatient hospital pharmacy experience required
Required License/Certifications:
- Current Maryland State License
Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
