San Mateo County Health's Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) Division has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clinical Services Manager (CSM) of nursing in Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. This position has a leadership component and will be part of the Management leadership team. This CSM Nursing Manager will provide clinical supervision, consultation and training to the Community Mental Health nurses who provide services to adult outpatient and field-based teams. In addition to the leadership role, this position will provide direct services to the Older Adult System of Integrated Services (OASIS) and the Collaborative Care Team (CCT). The OASIS team is a community field-based mental health services program who serves older adults with serious mental illness, co-occurring disorders, and complex medical conditions at their place of residence. The Collaborative Care Team (CCT) is a field-based specialty team providing clinical services to adult clients placed at our contracted facilities out of county. This specialty team serves clients who are diagnosed with serious mental illness and have complex behavioral health needs (substance use, psychiatric, and medical) and require a high level of support.
The clinical nurse manager role is a new role that is a being piloted for 1 year. The Clinical nurse manager will provide clinical supervision for the Community Mental Health nurses, participate in the overall management of division and inter-division nurse issues, provide clinical supervision, train and provide orientation to a dedicated and experienced nursing team. The Clinical Nurse Manager Will Co-Chair the Infection Control Committee (ICC). The Clinical nurse Manager will report to the Deputy Director of Adult and Older Adult Services and receive clinical supervision and training from The BHRS Medical Director or their designee. Direct client care assignments will be assigned by the unit supervisors of the designated field-based team.
The CSM nursing manager direct care role, will provide nursing support to both the OASIS team and the CCT team by providing psychiatric assessments, clinical case management services, medication therapy and individual, group and family counseling. They will work with acute hospitals and community resources to coordinate clients' clinical care and recovery services.
This Limited Term assignment is currently for a duration of one year however, based on need it can be extended up to three years.
This position will have an office located at 2000 Alameda De Las Pulgas but will travel throughout San Mateo County and out of county.
This is a limited term, at-will position. Limited Term Employees are assigned to assignments not to exceed three years. They receive medical and dental benefits, similar to regular employees, and a defined contribution retirement plan. The eligible list generated from this recruitment may be used to fill future extra-help, term, unclassified, and regular classified vacancies.

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- A Master's degree in Psychiatric Nursing.
- A minimum of one-year experience in an outpatient community mental health setting.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with consumers, families, and contract providers.
- Skills and knowledge of principles and practices of supervision which includes development of medical/nursing policies, procedures and protocols.
- Ability to organize, coordinate and evaluate nursing services to ensure quality client care and conform to all prescribed standards.
- Ability to analyze nursing service delivery problems and develop recommendations and consult with executive management to resolve concerns.
- Experience training nursing staff and experience providing clinical supervision
- Knowledge of current psychiatric nursing practice including psychopharmacology and the medical issues associated with serious mental illness.
- Knowledge of the behavioral health needs of adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring disorders.
- Knowledge of the principles of psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery.
- Experience in providing individual and group skill-based psychoeducation.
- Experience in the geriatric population and experience in collaborating with older adult services providers in the community.
- Great organization skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work as a team member.
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team as a direct service provider.
- Bilingual Spanish skills preferred.
