Job Description Summary

The Clinical Research Coordinator C will organize, coordinate and implement complex Phase I-IV clinical trials, including coordination, organization and maintenance of all documentation required by Sponsor or CRO; data entry; resolve data queries with Sponsor or CRO; recruit, screen and enroll potential study subjects from inpatient and outpatient; participate in the conduct of audits; process and ship blood, stool and specimens; schedule patient visits and any necessary testing; obtain records required to complete case report forms; conduct initiation, monitoring and closeout visits with Sponsor or CRO; adhere to all Penn ICF and FDA guidelines; prepare and process all IRB documentation. This position will report directly to the Project Manager and work directly with Physician Investigators (“PI”) on clinical research performed. Weekend work may be required as specified in protocols.



The Clinical Research Coordinator C is expected to perform the duties above with more limited supervision from the project manager and PIs. In addition, will develop complex documents such as protocols and consents, mentor and supervise other clinical research coordinators and research assistants in the research team, and take a lead role in study communication with internal and external groups. Work directly with investigators to design, set-up and execute studies. Accountable for making sure study timelines and goals are met. Independently move a clinical trial through each phase of development, resolving issues and queries with input from a supervisor as required. Management of clinical trials and will need to use more independent judgment.

+ Prepare and process all IRB documentation


+ Recruit, screen and enroll potential study subjects


+ Coordination, organization and maintenance of all clinical trial documentation and data entry required by Sponsor


+ Participate in conduct of audits; data entry; resolve data queries; conduct initiation, monitoring and closeout visits with Sponsor


+ Mentor and supervise clinical research coordinators A and B and research assistants on the team


+ Perform additional duties as assigned





Qualifications





+ Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.


+ The successful candidate must have: (1) practical experience coordinating the day-to-day activities of multiple therapeutic research protocols; (2) effective verbal and written communication skills; (3) ability to learn new methods quickly and multi-task; (4) demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently; (5) knowledge or experience in Hepatology preferred but not required; (6) possess working knowledge of the Title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), International Conference of Harmonisation (ICH) and Good Clinical (Research) Practice (GCP) Guidelines.
