Scope:
This is a full time, onsite position as a credentialled physician assistant supporting care of patients enrolled in research protocols studying the diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients with inborn errors of immunity and other disorders.
Clinical Protocol Coordinator
- Works collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment to provide comprehensive clinical research care to patients and clinical research volunteers
- Performs clinical assessment of patients and clinical research volunteers as dictated by the protocol and/or the volunteer's clinical condition
- Monitors results, recognizes abnormal outcomes/problematic trends, and communicates findings to the principal investigator and study team members as appropriate
- Provides protocol-driven and clinically indicated medical interventions
- Performs protocol-driven and clinically indicated procedures.
- Facilitates the care continuity across healthcare settings (Clinical Center and outside hospitals/providers)
- Accurately and timely documents patient care and research activities in the appropriate charting systems
- Provides counseling, education and instruction to patients and their families regarding their diagnosis and treatment plans.
- Assists with protocol development and lifecycle
- Coordinates with outside referring providers to facilitate the screening and enrollment process
- Obtains consent for clinical trial enrollment
- Assists with data collection and management
- Assists in preparing and filing regulatory documents related to clinical protocols
- Assists with sample procurement and processing
- Participates in clinical rounds and protocol meetings
- Ability to work on-site during regular clinic hours, excluding Federal holidays. Ad hoc telework available on non-clinic days.
Specific Qualifications:
- Master of Science in public health or health sciences is required
- Certification as a Physician Assistant with 0-3+ years of experience is preferred.
- A Physician Assistant applicant must be a Graduate from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education and successfully completed the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) examination; AND have maintained status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for continuing medical education (CME) and re-certification.
- Compliance with applicable licensure/certification requirements, healthcare standards, governmental laws and regulations, policies, and procedures
- Maintaining clinical competence as a physician assistant
- The candidate must be eligible to be credentialled by a government entity.
- The candidate must be able to secure medical malpractice insurance in the amount of $1 million.
