Job Summary:
The Patient Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing systems and processes that ensure the safety of patients. This role involves monitoring and analyzing patient safety data, developing and executing improvement initiatives, conducting safety training for staff, and investigating incidents that compromise patient safety. The Patient Safety Manager also focuses on creating a culture of safety within the organization, prioritizing patient well-being, and minimizing the risk of harm. The goal is to achieve measurable improvements in patient safety that contribute to reducing medical errors and adverse patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and analyze patient safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Develop, implement, and manage improvement initiatives to prevent errors and accidents.
- Conduct safety training for staff to promote best practices in patient safety.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, or near-misses that compromise patient safety and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with leaders to influence change and achieve sustainable improvements in patient safety.
- Foster a culture of safety that prioritizes the well-being of patients and minimizes risk.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a Healthcare-related field
- Within 30 days of hire: California Fire and Life Safety Card (National Organization)
- Five years of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Nursing or a Healthcare-related field
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) upon hire
- 2 years of experience in patient safety.
Skills and Certifications:
- Bachelor's Degree - BSN or Healthcare-related field
- CPPS - Certified Professional in Patient Safety
- Within 30 days - California Fire & Life Safety Card
- 2 years of experience in patient safety.
