The Clinical Patient Safety Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and quality of patient care within an acute care hospital. The manager collaborates with healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and support staff, to monitor patient safety trends, investigate incidents, and lead initiatives aimed at reducing adverse events. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement patient safety programs aligned with hospital policies.
Monitor and analyze patient safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Conduct root cause analyses for adverse events and near misses.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop quality improvement initiatives.
Educate hospital staff on patient safety protocols and regulations.
Ensure compliance with state and federal patient safety regulations.
Lead safety culture assessments and promote a culture of reporting.
Facilitate regular patient safety meetings and updates.
Develop and maintain patient safety reporting systems.
Assist in the preparation for accreditation surveys and inspections.
Work with clinical teams to implement best practices in patient care.
Provide feedback and recommendations based on safety data analysis.
Engage in community outreach and collaboration for patient safety initiatives.
Maintain and improve the hospital's patient safety plan.
Serve as a liaison to external patient safety organizations.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
Master's degree in healthcare or related discipline preferred.
5+ years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
3+ years in a patient safety or quality management role.
Certification in healthcare quality (CPHQ) is preferred.
Extensive knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven leadership and team-building abilities.
Experience with electronic health record systems.
