Job Description Summary:
The School of Nursing at the University of Kansas Medical Center seeks a
nurse educator for a faculty role in the baccalaureate nursing program
on the Salina, Kansas campus. This full-time (9-month appointment),
non-tenure earning faculty position reports to the Associate Dean for
Undergraduate Programs & Department Chair.
Job Description:
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate nursing students in a variety of courses and
settings (didactic courses, online courses, clinical settings,
simulation, and clinical laboratory settings) in the undergraduate
nursing program.
- Participate in ongoing course and curriculum development,
implementation, and evaluation activities.
- Participate in service-related activities (serving on
committees/task forces, mentoring students, assigning clinical
placements, etc.) to support the mission of the school.
- Collaborate with other KU nursing faculty on both campuses.
- Develop and implements special projects as necessary.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate nursing degree (Master's or Doctorate).
Certification/License:
- Possess a registered nurse (RN) license from the Kansas State Board
of Nursing (or be eligible for a RN license in Kansas).
Work Experience:
- Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally (verbal and
written).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of
people.
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience:
- Teaching experience in a nursing program
- Experience teaching in a simulation laboratory setting.
- Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating courses; and the
overall baccalaureate curriculum.
- Experience serving as or working with clinical preceptors.
- Healthcare experience working in rural areas.
