Role and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Co-directors of Neurolab Diagnostics, your role as the Clinical Neurophysiology Manager is to provide oversight and direction of the activities for our diagnostic services that ensures smooth operations and effective patient care. This will include supervision and direction of other neurophysiology technicians who perform routine EEG, long-term EEG monitoring in-house, ambulatory EEG, polysomnography, EMG/NCS, and other neurodiagnostic tests. In this role you will also directly perform and assist in neurodiagnostic procedures as mentioned above in accordance with technical standards set forth by the American Society of Neurodiagnostic Technologies (ASET), the American Electroencephalography Society (AEEGS), and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). The Clinical Neurophysiology Manager is required to maintain and improve his/her level of clinical and technical knowledge across all disciplines of the diagnostic neurosciences.
- Provide operational and clinical oversight of the technologist team who perform diagnostic procedures
- Support and assist when needed with recruiting and interviewing prospective candidates
- Coordinates the training and facility orientation for new techs (staff) as well as education on a regular basis
- Staff scheduling
- Perform Video Routine EEGs, LTM setups and disconnects in accordance with standard guidelines
- Functions independently to safely operate sophisticated medical equipment to record, download, review and analyze recorded EEG and other neurodiagnostic studies
- Monitors patients and recordings and recognizes EEG pathology when it occurs and responds with appropriate interventions to ensure patient safety
- Remain discrete and sensitive to patient specific age, culture, gender, and medical conditions
- Maintains equipment in proper working order, troubleshoots equipment problems and arranges for replacement or repair with appropriate vendors
- Inform directors of departmental problems and suggest improvements.
- Perform all duties inherent to a managerial role
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent
- Registered EEG technician (certified through ABRET – American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potentials Technologists)
Preferred Skills
1-2 years of relevant experience in a clinical management position
