Summary:
The Lead Clinical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for performing, evaluating, and reporting of technical laboratory procedures on patient specimens for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Follows established procedures to ensure laboratory quality control and compliance with professional standards of practice. The Lead Technologist may perform administrative responsibilities of the laboratory section assuming additional technical or non-technical responsibilities, as needed.
*** Shift: 10PM-6:30AM
- 5 days/week including weekends.
Responsibilities:
Assists with ongoing compliance and regulatory requirements.Provides input in the evaluation of team members performance.Follows established procedures for laboratory quality control, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, compliance activities, and policies and procedures.May serve as Laboratory Safety and/or Quality Officer.Performs accurate and appropriate testing of specimens received in the laboratory, according to established laboratory protocol and procedures.Trains, instructs and observes student technologists and new or current employees.Assists with coordinating services, prioritizing assignments and workflow, and promoting situational decision making/problem solving.Effectively manages resources such as productivity, supplies, instruments and equipment. Plans work and completes job responsibilities in an efficient and productive manner.May serve as lead of a laboratory section.Reports test results in a timely manner according to established laboratory protocols.May assess competency of team members.

Additional Job Information:
Complexity of Work: Excellent knowledge of laboratory procedures and instrumentation. Ability to effectively relate and communicate with internal and external customers. Advanced knowledge of laboratory information systems. Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist. Other Information: Additional Education Info: Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, or Biological Science. Bachelor's degree required to assess competency. Associate's degree with seven (7) years or more of experience in lieu of a Bachelor degree. Additional Cert/License Info: Florida State License as a Technologist (TN License) or Supervisor (SU License) n in the area of responsibility.
