Clinical Lab Assistant III - Childrens Hospital and Research Center

Job Summary:
The laboratory assistant III is responsible for collecting blood and urine specimens from pediatric patients and for the timely initial processing of specimens for laboratory testing and microbiology set-up.

Position Requirements:
Minimum Education: High School or equivalent
Minimum Experience: 1 year phlebotomy experience. Phlebotomy certificate required.
Preferred Education: Basic college courses.
Skills & Abilities: Moderate knowledge of medical terminology. Must be able to communicate in a positive and effective manner with all ages of pediatric patients and patient''s parents Must be capable of performing precise repetitive and consistent manipulations with patient samples. Must be able to process data with extreme accuracy and thoroughness. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. Must be able to work weekends.

Physical Requirements:
Sit: Up to 8 hours/day
Stand/Walk: Up to 6 hours/day
Bend/Stoop: Up to 6 hours/day
Reach: Up to 6 hours
Rep Use of UE/Grasp: Up to 8 hrs
Lift/Push/Pull: 25lbs, over 25# with assistance or equipment.
