Howard Systems seeks a local (RN, PA or MD) for a clinical informatics role for our client in Long Island, NY.
06/19/2023 to 09/14/2023 and a possible extension.
Plans and organized the staff and activities in support medical informatics and related
departments, supporting the development and optimization of evidenced-based clinical content, clinical workflows, and effective use of data within the domain of electronic medical records and the EMR ecosystem. Provides design expertise. Guides the team in use of effective methodologies and ensures delivery of a quality product consistent with organizational objectives and goals. Supports innovation and enhancement of care delivery and care quality using health information technology.
Job Responsibilities
Leads development and maintenance of clinical content and clinical workflows and develops expertise within the team.
Promotes enterprise-wide clinical standardization to reduce variability in care delivery and
ensures change management and enterprise quality standards are met.
Serves as a resource to management during evaluation of related project proposals; utilizes knowledge of current inpatient and ambulatory information systems and associated data to leverage for proposed projects.
Ensures clinical workflow across departments is designed into overall plan and development of
clinical care, also ensures clinical content built with the end in mind to include meaningful use
data capture, clinical quality assurance, and regulatory reporting, as well as disease
management, research and care improvements.
Ensures clinical information system supports clinical quality and patient safety as well as
business requirements (coding and compliance).
Recommends methods for updating or improving processes or procedures.
Serves as a liaison between technical and clinical stakeholders and helps maintain open
communication with all groups.
Makes recommendations and proposals for new initiatives in support of assigned projects.
Uses knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of functional objectives and
principles to achieve goals in innovative ways.
Problems addressed are of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.
Job Experience &
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Informatics, Clinical, Technical or related field, required.
5-8 years of relevant and progressive experience with evidence of leadership, required.
Informatics experience highly preferred.
Current license to practice in a healthcare discipline in New York State preferred.
Detail oriented and skilled in complex problem solving
Capable of addressing issues using a combination of existing system functionality and custom developed tools.
Experienced in clinical systems implementations and support
Ability to learn custom-developed systems and complex workflows quickly in order to support job responsibilities
Skilled in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Power Point, Excel, Visio etc.)
Ability to review, categorize, and analyze clinical data
Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, and maintain a positive attitude
Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
Ability to communicate effectively, with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in healthcare information, information science, computer science or business administration, required
Minimum of Three (3) years' experience in a technical support, business analysis or project management role in a clinical or healthcare environment
Knowledge of healthcare policies and procedures, including HIPAA, PCI, required

Melville, NY collaborates with infrastructure team members and business units to provide system/workflow analysis and change management, support design, modification, and implementation of assigned applications. The Clinical Analyst is expected to have good knowledge of the assigned application and suggest improvements as it supports or improves the workflows and processes of the assigned service line. The position requires knowledge of data analysis principles and skills which help to provide insight into strategies for project enhancements.
Duties and responsibilities
Explore and summarize health system data to provide insight for strategic decisions.
Implement applications, tools, and processes that assist clinicians with the management of data in patient care and the provision of health care
Liaise with service lines and technical teams to translate complex business and technology specifications into relatable concepts to expedite communications and project execution
Recommends innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems
Assists in the creation of product roadmaps
Work with other members of the team to implement solutions to meet business operation needs
Participates in support activities that may include issue tracking, issue resolution, documentation, capacity planning, and functional testing and quality assurance
Prepares standard operating procedure documentation related to the assigned application for the purposes of operational support and cross-training
Skills
Knowledge of SQL is required
Experience with Python, Powerbi or other visualization tools is a plus.
