Overview
Possesses skilled knowledge of pharmacy discipline/practice and advanced knowledge of information technology and its application to healthcare. Serves as a technical expert and applies best practices to the management and use of the clinical information systems utilized in Pharmacy, and specializes in the medication process through all phases of care, including Clinical Decision Support. Supports the analysis, design, implementation, evaluation, testing, optimization, maintenance & support of clinical technologies and associated processes within the Pharmacy. Assesses & supports staff throughout the care continuum in the implementation, use, adoption and optimization of clinical technologies to maximize efficient and effective use in order to facilitate the improvement of patient care, user satisfaction, clinical productivity, and quality outcomes. Provides project management support for assigned projects.
This is a full time 40hr per week benefited position. Monday-Friday 8am-5pm with on call requirement.
Responsibilities
Position will be responsible for medication/Pharmacy related build and maintenance in the Epic Willow (Inpatient) and Beacon (Oncology Treatment plan) applications, providing technical support for the Pharmacy Department and other end-users, as well as assisting with the implementation of other information system initiatives within the Pharmacy Departments
Work collaboratively with the IS application teams and Pharmacy Department to support, maintain, and develop solutions to improve the medication use process through the use of technology and effectively improve patient outcomes, increase safety and efficiency
Can independently apply analytical skills & technical knowledge to assess complex issues & develop recommended solutions. Demonstrates innovation in applying systems analysis techniques, knowledge, and experience to the needs of the organization.
Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with all clinical & operational team members, patients, and the broader health care community
Utilizes excellent behavioral, written and verbal communication skills, and practices effective listening interpersonal communication as strategic tools for individual and organizational actualization.
Develops written materials for moderate scale projects, presents information to diverse audiences and facilitates discussions.
Manages small to medium scope Intra- or Inter-team projects which impact large segments of the organization or enterprise-wide levels
Able to manage not only the technical aspects/build of a project but also coordinating all of the aspects of the project (either on their own, or coordinating with others to ensure completion): doing analysis to define the need, coordinating the build, educational roll-out & communication, determining success of project (assessing desired metrics/goals).
Has proficient project mgmt. skills - developing workplans, tracking responsibilities & due dates, note taking & facilitation, identifying risks & escalation appropriately, creating timelines, etc.
Develops and refines work management processes and methodologies with direction provided by Manager as needed. Consistently meets deadlines, or appropriately escalates issues preventing progression of their work. Identifies opportunities to accept new work in order to maximize available productivity. Trains others in work management skills
Can oversee team members working on a project to guide their efforts, but has no direct supervisory role.
Participates in the development and presentation of educational materials and training programs for the pharmacy, information systems, nursing and other staff members for small to medium scope Intra or Inter-team projects
Can oversee team members working on a project to guide their efforts, but has no direct supervisory role.
Maintains a broad understanding of both the organization and the health care industry
Demonstrates appropriate independent decision making and works effectively as part of a team structure.
Able to hold discussions of the concepts involved in system design, workflow design, or issue investigation while not actively working with or looking at the system/ documentation, and make the technology understandable to others (e.g. end users or organizational leadership).
Provide training and assistance to team members.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) School of Pharmacy with a Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy required.
Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree preferred.
2 years hospital pharmacy experience or completion of a PGY2 residency required
Ideal candidate will have experience with technical or clinical support involved in implementing, maintaining & supporting computer systems related to medications for large clinical organizations.
Current Epic application certification/proficiency, or earning it within 12 months of hire, is required. Maintenance of certification/proficiency in accordance with Epic requirements is required.
Must be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision and adapt to changes in workload.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and organizational skills desired
Project management and application testing skills is preferred.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- Must be currently licensed to practice in the state of NH - Current Epic application certification/proficiency, or earning it within 12 months of hire, is required. Maintenance of certification/proficiency in accordance with Epic requirements is required.
