Job Summary:
The Urology Austin Clinical Educator is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs for new and existing Medical Assistants (MAs) and Patient Services Representatives (PSRs). This role requires a strong understanding of medical office procedures, patient care, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator, patient, and detail-oriented with a passion for training and development
Responsibilities and Duties:
- New Hire Training:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for new MAs and PSRs, covering topics such as:
- Medical terminology
- Medical office procedures
- Electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Patient intake and registration
- Insurance verification and billing
- Clinical skills (e.g., vital signs, phlebotomy, injections)
- Regulatory compliance (e.g., HIPAA, OSHA)
- Conduct both didactic and hands-on training sessions.
- Monitor new hires' progress and provide ongoing support and feedback.
- Responsible for Preceptor Program
- Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for new MAs and PSRs, covering topics such as:
- Ongoing Training and Development:
- Identify training needs for existing MAs and PSRs through regular performance evaluations and feedback from the staff members’ managers.
- Develop and deliver targeted training programs to address specific skill gaps or emerging needs.
- Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies.
- Update training materials and delivery methods to reflect best practices and evolving standards.
- Conduct regular refresher training sessions to maintain proficiency and compliance.
- Field Training:
- Provide on-the-job training and coaching to MAs and PSRs in clinical and administrative settings.
- Observe staff performance and provide feedback and guidance.
- Assist with troubleshooting issues and problem-solving.
- Training Materials and Curriculum:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of training materials, including:
- Training manuals
- PowerPoint presentations
- Job aids and checklists
- Online learning modules
- Regularly review and update training materials to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of training materials, including:
- Evaluation and Reporting:
- Track and measure the effectiveness of training programs through pre- and post-training assessments, performance evaluations, and other relevant metrics.
- Analyze training data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for future training initiatives.
- Prepare regular reports on training activities, participant performance, and program outcomes.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Advanced clinical knowledge and education required; RN preferred.
- Urology experience a plus. Can substitute with comparable professional knowledge and experience.
- Minium 5 years of experience in a patient care environment
- Leadership background and experience strongly preferred
- Proven experience in training and development, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical office procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHR systems.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
