- The Clinical Dietitian assesses and makes recommendations to meet the nutritional needs of patients, provides nutritional counseling and serves as a member of the patient care team.Maintains open communications and is available to component organizations and practitionersites for consultation.

- Core Job Functions
- The Nutrition Care Progress is used to determine a nutrition diagnosis and develop interventions using evidence-based research. Nutrition Care is documented appropriately in the electronic medical record.
- Nutrition education is given at the time appropriate for optimal learning for the patient and family using approved educational materials and tools individualized and used to support the education. Learning needs are assessed and education modified to meet the needs of the patient and family. Education is documented in the appropriate section of the electronic medical record.
- Communicates with other members of team to effectively assess and treat patients. Obtains information from and provides information regarding the nutrition care plan to other disciplines and the department.
- Assessments, calculations and recommendations are evidence-based and completed within established time frames. Patients receiving nutrition support are assessed and monitored using established criteria. Recommendations for change in nutrition therapy are documented and effectively communicated to the physician.
