About the Job
The Clinical Applications Support Analyst is responsible for the training, implementation and supporting of the organizations Electronic Health Record and other integrated application systems. This person resolves issues reported by end-users in a timely fashion and with high quality, working directly with the user who reported the issue to gather additional data and to communicate issue resolution. In addition, the applications support analyst is responsible for the setup, maintenance and training of the systems to meet the needs of the providers and practice staff. The Clinical Applications Support Analyst will work collaboratively with Health Information Management Systems Director to ensure the application systems are meeting user workflow needs and enabling patient care. In addition, the application analyst will assist with specific projects, reporting needs and upgrades as assigned.
Daily Operations
• Serve as systems analyst for the EHR and other assigned systems by providing on-going problem resolution and support for all end users.
• Administering and configuring the clinical elements of the EHR and other assigned systems to support the clinic workflow and meet the needs of the end users , including, but is not limited to, researching, testing, reporting, training (in-house and offsite),writing and revising documentation and instructions as needed that are clear and complete.
• Develop, update and assist with EHR table files (e.g. ICD, Rx, Templates, Labs, Immunizations, Vaccine Lot Numbers, Order Sets, Practice Defaults, User Defaults, Document Management, Clinical Documentation Management, Structured Data, and Practice Management etc.) interfaces and integrations and develops training tools and resources.
• Works collaboratively with the Health Information Management Systems, Director to identify and redesign areas for improvement in EHR process and workflow.
• Assist with EHR user security levels, activations/deactivations to ensure HIPAA and other regulations are being met.
• Involved in deployment of technology and integration solutions throughout the organization.
• Conducts periodic end-user system utilization assessments to ensure standards and quality.
• Responsible for keeping up-to-date and current with new EHR Technologies and working with the Office of Information Technology to ensure equipment, connectivity, file conversions, software and other related services are complete for each installation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
• Have a working knowledge of eClinicalWorks and eClinicalWorks eBO.
• Develop an in-depth knowledge of the Meharry build of the eClincialWorks electronic health record.
• Ability to lead/manage multiple projects at once and maintain pre-established timelines
• Ability to work with vendors to clarify technical capabilities and user requirements.
• Ability to analyze and interpret work processes and revise or write applicable policies and procedures.
• Ability to develop Quick Reference Guides and Workflows using Microsoft Office tools
• Ability to interact with customers and clients, including clinical staff, and provide functional and technical assistance to resolve problems
• Ability to work with external organizations (e.g. government agencies, institutions, etc.) to provide reports, analysis, or data necessary to comply with rules, regulations and/or audits.
• Good organizational skills
• Effective communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills, specifically within the healthcare/clinical setting
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Understanding of clinical and healthcare-related terminology
• Ability to maintain attendance to support required quality and quantity of work
• A working knowledge of the ambulatory clinical environment
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree (preferred) from an accredited college or university required and five (5) or more years of relevant work experience in a technical area such as computer science.
• Experience with and working knowledge of eClinicalWorks for at least 3 years is preferred.
• 1 to 3 years clinical experience
