The Office of the Dean is comprised of innovative leaders aligned to address the needs of the school's research faculty and staff, and build a robust research enterprise, focused on the importance of clinical research at a top academic medical institution. Structured to best serve the needs of our ever-changing organization, the Office of the Dean enables the UCI School of Medicine to adapt quickly to an evolving research, clinical and academic landscape, with an eye toward efficiency, cohesiveness, and fiscal responsibility.
This position performs analytic support to aid in the financial and strategic management in the School of Medicine office of the Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs. The incumbent will perform analysis as well as conduct innovative and comprehensive reviews of a variety of complex financial and operational components within the School of Medicine for the clinical enterprise. Responsible for reviewing, researching, analyzing and developing strategies to analyze billing data, faculty practice performance and productivity. Through the use of professional fee billing benchmarks, clinical practice and faculty productivity measures will establish forecasting and reporting methods to monitor performance against benchmarks. The incumbent will consult with a variety of campus, Medical Center and School of Medicine departments and other sources on a wide spectrum of analytical needs and challenges to develop innovative recommendations and strategic solutions for the Dean’s office. Work completed by incumbent contributes to major SOM and Medical Center objectives and directly impacts SOM departmental and supports clinical integration goals. Experience in physician billing and growth projections will be key for success in this role. This role will also require innovation and development of tools to help with forecasting and analyzing.
- Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems. Preferred
- Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources. Required
- Advanced ability to effectively present complex finance related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner. Required
- In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports. Required
- Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. In depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment. Required
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities. Preferred
- Ability to function as a member of a team. Required
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Preferred
- Knowledge of physician billing terms. Required
- Experience with Qgenda & EMR Systems/EPIC Reporting. Preferred
- High proficiency in Tableau and Microsoft Applications. Required

- Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
- 3-5 years with MA/MS
