About the Job
Diagnostic Imaging:
- Perform X-ray examinations to create detailed images for diagnostic purposes.
- Ensure the use of proper positioning techniques to obtain accurate and high-quality images.
Patient Care:
- Prepare and position patients for X-ray procedures, explaining the process and providing necessary support.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during imaging procedures.
Equipment Operation:
- Operate and maintain X-ray equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Perform routine equipment checks and report any malfunctions promptly.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely interpretation of images.
- Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to address specific patient needs.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of X-ray procedures, including patient information, images, and any relevant observations.
- Input data into the radiology information system (RIS) or electronic health record (EHR) as required.
Quality Assurance:
- Adhere to quality assurance protocols to ensure the accuracy and reliability of diagnostic images.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
Patient Education:
- Provide basic information to patients about the X-ray procedure and address any questions or concerns.
- Ensure that patients understand and follow pre-exam instructions.
- Minimum Education
- Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
- Experience
- 0-1 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist, preferably in a clinical or outpatient setting.
- Clinical radiographic and imaging experience from an AMA accredited radiologic program preferred.
- Required Registration/License/Certification
- Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association is required at time of hire.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in operating X-ray equipment and related technology.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and medical terminology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, and move comfortably within the clinic setting.
- Manual dexterity for tasks such as administering medications, conducting procedures, and operating medical equipment.
- Lifting and positioning capabilities to assist patients and handle clinical supplies.
- Sharp visual acuity for patient assessments, documentation, and reading medical records.
- Working Conditions
- Primarily in a clinic setting with occasional travel to other clinical sites.
- Standard with flexibility based on patient needs.
- Exposure to radiation; strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Handles emergencies or crisis situations
