Participates in the implementation and evaluation of patient care, under the supervision of a registered nurse; ensures the health, comfort and safety of patients.Job Description
Documenting a thorough medical history from patient and performing a physical exam to determine patient's needs. Discussing information collected from patients with a registered nurse and administering medications or treatments as ordered. Providing technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
Counseling patients and family members, under the direction of a registered nurse, on prevention and treatment plans.
Qualifications
Must have graduated from an accredited school or college of nursing program leading to licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Associate's degree in practical nursing is preferred. Specific services/positions may have additional education, training or experience requirements.
Must have attended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervised clinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as a RN (or LPN) at another facility.
If IV therapy is required, the incumbent must have completed, upon date of hire or within designated timeframe as determined by the department, a board approved educational program that included intravenous therapy in the curriculum or successfully completed a course in intravenous therapy that was developed according to board guidelines and approved by the board.
Requires current licensure as a practical nurse in the state/states of practice.
