Overview:
As a Climate Financial Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in providing technical expertise to climate adaptation projects across various federal government sectors. Your responsibilities will include financial forecasting, trend analysis, statistical analysis, and conducting assessments to support proposed adaptation projects. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, you will evaluate feasibility, cost, and mission impact to strengthen resilience across the government's facilities portfolio. Deep familiarity with federal financial accounting standards, climate scenario planning, and a profound understanding of climate science are essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
Provide technical climate science expertise across integrated project teams, assessing climate risk in strategic planning activities such as master planning, facility design, and national security.
Conduct research on climate hazards, risks, and mitigation strategies, as well as sustainability topics including sustainable building technologies and energy efficiency.
Understand federal climate risk requirements and compare agency efforts with attribution studies to delineate between natural variability and climate-related events.
Analyze financial costs to federal assets due to climate-related incidents, including forecasting and statistical analysis.
Compile and manage complex data sets, translating them into presentations, reports, and policy recommendations for federal stakeholders.
Prepare climate adaptation plans, risk assessments, and collaborate with subject matter experts to develop risk mitigation strategies.
Track and assess the impact of climate and environmental policies at federal and state levels.
Demonstrate company capabilities to current and potential federal clients, supporting business development goals through client engagements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, climate risk analysis, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
5-10 years of experience in climate assessment.
Familiarity with federal financial accounting standards, climate scenario planning, and in-depth knowledge of climate science.
Experience with General Services Administration preferred.
Strong skills in MS Office applications, particularly advanced abilities in MS Excel.
Demonstrated creativity in problem-solving and developing climate risk solutions.
Strong technical writing, proofreading, and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Working knowledge of current federal and state climate and environmental policies.
Ability to contribute to a professional work environment, promoting teamwork and positive communication.
