ABOUT PARK BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND VISIT GALVESTON
In 1963, the citizens of Galveston voted to create a specialized unit of government called the Park Board of Trustees of the City of Galveston. The organization is responsible for overseeing Galveston's tourism efforts, Galveston Island Beach Patrol (GIPB) and Coastal Zone Management (CZM). The Park Board is funded primarily through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) and beach user fees for the six parks that they manage. Tourism pays for tourism as no sales or property tax is collected by the Park Board. The nine-member board is comprised of volunteer residents with diverse business backgrounds. Each is required to serve at least two years and must also serve on one of the Park Board's advisory committees.
We are on a mission to promote and support tourism on Galveston Island in order to foster an environment that establishes a great place to live, work, and visit. Our vision is to create a tourist destination that promises an exciting variety of experiences and a high quality of life for residents.
The island offers natural resources, attractions, events, and heritage that we wish to share with the residents and visitors alike. Our employees are dedicated to inviting all to come and experience the island that we care so much about.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CLIENT SERVICES COORDINATOR
As a Client Services Coordinator, you are a vital link between us and the organizations who visit our city for an event, meeting, or convention. When our sales team books an organization's event, you are ready to serve as a go-to, enhancing the experience of the organizers and attendees alike.
Using your excellent customer service skills, you establish contact with the organizers, discovering their needs and the overall goals for the event. To help drive participation, you facilitate marketing resources, discount programs, public relations assistance, social media promotion, and other attendance-building tools. To enhance attendee engagement, you promote the destination's amenities beyond the meeting venue. Your local expertise helps them choose the perfect offsite venues, entertainment, tours, shopping, family activities, or other resources that best fit the organization's goals and the attendees' preferences.
When an organization requires a site visit or familiarization tour beforehand, you work with our Sales and Experience teams to make their tour as impressive as possible. Once a plan is settled, you go to work, making sure the needed materials are scheduled, delivered on time, and ready for the tour. When the group arrives, everything flows seamlessly thanks to your organizational abilities and foresight. You find great satisfaction in seeing how much the participants enjoy the destination and every moment the team has skillfully prepared!
