Client Desktop Administrator

Pay: $20-$25/hr
Position Summary:
The Enterprise Client Endpoint Services team oversees the life cycle management of client desktops and applications, ensuring compliance with enterprise-approved software and hardware. The role involves creating and maintaining standards-based operating systems and application deployments for both corporate and shop systems. Additionally, this position supports the troubleshooting and maintenance of all client configurations and standards within a large enterprise environment.
General Duties and Responsibilities:

- Develop, test, and document corporate and shop client OS images.
- Create and maintain client system build procedures.
- Provide 3rd-level desktop engineering support to IT support staff for issues within client configurations and operating system images.
- Review standard desktop software patches and releases, make upgrade recommendations, create packages, and coordinate testing and deployment of approved upgrades.
- Distribute software using an enterprise desktop management system such as HPDM, PDQ, Big Fix, SCCM.
- Identify, research, diagnose, and escalate (as needed) production problems, creating and coordinating engineered solutions according to specified requirements and design.
- Standardize software and utilities on laptops and desktops, ensuring consistent security settings on all computers.
- Maintain specification documentation for standard desktop hardware configuration, client configuration settings, and operating system images.
- Manage various project initiatives, upgrades, and maintenance activities for client systems.
- Participate in Change Release meetings to support the release of hardware configurations and operating system images.
- Present client systems technology roadmaps to technology management.
- Ensure successful implementation and monitoring of system improvements to increase efficiency.
- Monitor and respond to security-related events using tools like SCCM, Azure, and Intune.
Required to Perform the Essential Functions of the Position:

- 2+ years of experience in the Windows client environment.
- Direct experience in Desktop Engineering, with the ability to design and implement a Desktop Management infrastructure.
- Proven track record of resolving complex Windows desktop issues.
- Ability to learn and deploy applications with enterprise toolsets.
- Experience in developing and deploying unattended operating system installations for desktops/laptops using utilities.
- Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Linux (RHEL), Mac OS operating systems.
- Experience with troubleshooting, configuring, and securing Microsoft Windows operating systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, and other standard desktop applications.
- Experience using, configuring, and troubleshooting desktop management tools.
- Experience using Powershell, etc.
- Detail-oriented.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and technologies related to client desktops.
- Ability to articulate technical issues to management.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team setting and independently with minimal error and guidance.
- Sense of urgency and commitment to providing the best support to both internal and external clients.
- Desktop virtualization technology experience is a plus (VMware Workstation).
- Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP): Enterprise Desktop Administrator 7 certification.
