About the role:
As a Director of Accounting you will be responsible for financial and accounting tasks essential for moving the business forward.
This role requires extensive accounting experience and excellent interpersonal/communication skills. You must be task oriented with exceptional organizational skills and comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment.
What you'll do:
- Provide leadership and management to ensure proper accounting and reporting procedures
- Work with ownership to identify and implement financial, operational and strategic company goals
- Design, maintain and monitor compliance and regularly assess comprehensive policies and procedures, including cash receipts management, cash disbursement and expense management, contract administration and cost allocations
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations including revenues/receivables, purchases/expenses/payables, cash management and payroll
- Prepare month-end and year-end closings including preparation of financial statements for review by the VP
- Review payrolls on a bi-weekly basis.
- Ensure all intercompany transactions are booked consistently, timely and balanced by the end of the following month.
- Ensure accounts receivable and payments are timely
- Review accounts payable; communicating with vendors as necessary to ensure accurate cash disbursement
- Train and supervise staff as necessary to reach departmental goals
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting and 5 years of public accounting experience
- CPA a plus
- Strong leadership and team management experience
- Strong working knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience in designing, implementing and improving policies and procedures designed for efficiency, effectiveness and control
- Great communicator with an ability to work cross-functionally with department managers to achieve goals
- Experience with certified payroll is a plus.
