About the Job
We are hiring a Clean Room Extrusion Operator at our Aberdeen, MD location. This position is responsible for all activities associated with clean room operations. This individual must assist the extrusion lead operator in all aspects of production line operation including the operation of roll form and extrusion equipment. Assist with all aspects of troubleshooting extrusion equipment to maintain a continuous flow of product within the required quality and production standards. This position will lead the packaging of finished and semi-finished product.

Key Functions:
- Perform all tasks in a safe manner.
- Operate a variety of production equipment including, but not limited to, co-extrusion line, production lines, and stand-alone presses.
- Operate/maintain responsibility for the operation of roll form and extrusion equipment
- Troubleshoot extrusion equipment to maintain a continuous flow of product within the required quality and production standards.
- Perform quality checks throughout shift, complete required computer and manual production reporting.
- Ensure line is properly stocked with operating supplies, including assembling cartons as needed.
- Maintain line performance at all times to achieve established metrics.
- Coordinate duties of packer/packout as needed.
- Adhere to/ensure production schedule.
- Maintain clean work area
- Perform all changeovers on co-extrusion line and associated lines/presses.
- Perform other related changeover functions including planning, preparation & follow-up.
- Document changeover procedures and assist with creation of changeover SOP's.
- Ability to work daily overtime as needed. Flexibility around work schedule to ensure changeovers are completed in a timely manner.
- Establish and maintain an organized set-up area and set-up storage at each line.
- Gauge rolls and make rollform adjustments to correct bar forming issues.
- Troubleshoot all major pieces of equipment including tearing down, diagnose extent of trouble & repair and/or replace worn or defective parts components necessary to ensure quality product and proper line operation.
- Assist maintenance with major project, process improvements & emergency repairs as needed. Perform daily PM procedures as needed.
- Record troubleshooting in line maintenance books to assist in documenting line continuous improvements needs.
- Use Continuous Improvement methodology to drive decreased set-up times and improve next shift performance.
- Overtime as required
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and make certain that all safety equipment is in proper working order.
- Perform these and other related duties as assigned or directed.
- Actively participate in communication and WAVE culture.
Qualifications:
- Requires working knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, bearings, gears & cylinders.
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Prior plastic extrusion experience a plus.
Disagreeable Conditions:
Heat from extrusion dies. Frequent odor of curing substrates. Areas may be loud. All breaks determined by production line status. Must be able to lift up to 55 pound rolls for changeovers.
