We are currently seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer with a Professional Engineering (P.E.) License our Fort Lauderdale office to conduct a forensic investigation of residential and commercial building structures. The candidate must be proficient with technical oral and written communication and be able to defend and support conclusions. Responsibilities:- Performs forensic assignments within the field of civil/structural engineering expertise based upon a scope of work and budget prepared by the consultant and agreed upon by the client in advance of performing the work.
- Investigations typically include determinations of the cause and origin of moisture intrusion, roof damage, storm damage, and other structural damage
- Duties include gathering photographic evidence, conducting investigations to document onsite conditions, overseeing field-testing, and reviewing historical documentation.
- Provide clear, concise, and accurate written and verbal reports following the completion of an investigation
- Ability to initiate, develop and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.
- Ability to adhere to safety protocols as well as Rimkus standards and procedures
- Ability to deliver technical presentations to clients for the purpose of both litigation and marketing support.
Qualifications:
- B.S. Civil Engineering degree or higher.
- PE license in Florida is required. The ability to obtain a PE license in other jurisdictions via an NCEES Record is also desired.
- 5-7+ years of experience is preferred.
- Residential construction experiences are a plus. Estimating experience is a plus.
- Must have a high level of analytical skills. Work requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with clients at all levels (e.g. internal and external).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel as well as with AutoCAD is desired
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license and a reliable form of transportation.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and able to perform inspections in confined spaces and on building roof structures
