About the Job
Job Description
The Staff Engineer will work closely with other engineers and CAD technicians in the design of solid waste-related projects. The projects are challenging and provide unique design opportunities. You will be responsible for designing solid waste facilities that will enable us to create sustainable, cost-effective solutions tailored to the specific needs of our clients. The projects are intricate and incorporate both civil and environmental engineering skills, including land development (grading and stormwater management); leachate collection, treatment, and management; renewable energy designs; and organic waste management. Brand new, already operational, and closed solid waste facilities face many different types of challenges – there is never a dull moment, nor is there an off the shelf solution that fits every similar situation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Projects will include solid-waste related site development projects: developing master plans, design drawings, design of stormwater management and erosion control systems, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
- Preparing various types of related reports and studies to secure permitting for projects.
- Drafting work for scoping/conceptual work/engineering packages.
- Position will require some travel to clients’ facilities to better understand design issues and to monitor construction progress.
Required Education & Qualifications:
- Minimum requirements include a BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Passed the FE Exam with intent to obtain Professional Engineer license, and 0 to 5 years of experience, including solid waste, land development, or closely related projects.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D.
- Ideal candidate has the traits of a team player who is enthusiastic about all aspects of engineering and project management and can lead projects from planning and preliminary engineering through design and construction.
- Must have good communication skills, be a team player and be able to relate well to project team, clients, regulators, and contractors.
Physical Requirements:
Lift and carry or otherwise move up to 25 pounds
