Civil / Environmental Project Engineer
Our client, a leader in the oil and gas industry, is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Civil / Environmental Project Engineer to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in civil and environmental engineering principles and a passion for delivering excellence in this dynamic industry. This role involves coordinating between internal and external teams to support civil engineering design projects, such as well pads, pipeline rights-of-way, public and private roadways, and various other initiatives essential to the client’s operations. This position is based in Morgantown, WV.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Plan, develop, schedule, and perform engineering assignments related to the client’s design and permitting efforts, remediation tasks, and project closeout.
- Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for new projects.
- Oversee and support detailed engineering designs and permit applications, including civil/site drawings, well plats, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Facilitate communication between project stakeholders, including engineering consultants, surveyors, land agents, and property owners.
- Oversee and support day-to-day construction projects to ensure adherence to design plans and quality standards, while maintaining accurate redline or as-built drawings to document project modifications.
- Coordinate and perform field inspection services, as needed.
- Track budgets and invoices.
- Collaborate in a team environment to deliver outstanding, on-time project results while coordinating with other departments.
- Formalize company standards to ensure design consistency across operating areas.
- Provide quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on internal and external documents, including technical reviews.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulations.
- Work closely with management to ensure all work products meet quality standards.
- Perform work both in an office environment and in the field. Travel to company locations and selected sites is required, which may involve periodic overnight stays and remote work.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking, meeting deadlines, and delivering results under pressure.
Your Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Environmental Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field. Additional disciplines may be considered with appropriate experience.
- A minimum of 3+ years of oil and gas industry experience in the Appalachian Basin, with a working knowledge of federal, state, and local agency regulations affecting related activities.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Experience in civil/site and right-of-way design and construction is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to meet deadlines, work independently with minimal supervision, and function effectively as part of a team.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Ability to perform light work requiring occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds and other physical activities such as kneeling, standing, walking, crouching, and using manual dexterity.
- Comfortable operating standard office and computer equipment.
