Position Overview
Davey Resource Group is currently looking to add a dynamic Civil Engineer / Transportation & Roadway Designer to our passionate team of Transportation Engineering professionals. Responsibilities will include the design of roadway engineering projects involving geometric, hydraulic, pavement, intersection, lighting, and traffic design.

- Assist in preliminary engineering with conceptual and preliminary design.
- Assist in the planning and design of roadway engineering projects involving geometric, hydraulic, pavement, intersection, lighting, and traffic design. Strong understanding of ODOT and local regulations.
- Preparation of design calculations per local, state, and federal regulations.
- Preparation of Maintenance of Traffic and Traffic Control plans and specifications.
- Preparation of contract documents including project specifications and quantity/ cost estimates.
- Assist in managing projects through local, county, state, and federal permitting and compliance with other regulatory requirements.
Competencies
1. Problem Solving/Analysis.
- Ability to make independent decisions based on sound engineering judgment and experience.
- Ability to apply knowledge to a variety of assignments.
2. Technical Capacity.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experienced/Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer is a plus.
- Experience with stormwater regulations and practices
- Non-complex roadway design experience. Complex roadway design is a plus.
3. Communication Proficiency.
- Ability to guide junior-level staff on objectives, critical issues, and concepts.
- Ability to interact with internal staff, reviewing agencies and customers as needed on project-related issues.
4. Collaboration Skills.
- Will consult with superiors on unique, unusual problems and developments
- As experience expands, the role may collaborate on new or improved techniques and procedures on complex projects and assignments.
Duties
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Hours can be flexible based on circumstances. There may be a requirement for overtime based on workload.
Travel
No overnight travel is anticipated for this position. Some occasional local day travel may be necessary.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
- Minimum 3 years of roadway design experience
- Understanding and implementation experience of ODOT and/or local standards
- AutoCAD Civil 3D experience required
- MicroStation and OpenRoads Design experience preferred
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification, is required. (PE) Certification is preferred.
