Job Title: Civil Engineer
Location: Bristol, TN, Princeton, WV, Radford, VA, or Wise, VA
Company Overview:
A multi-office E/A firm with an established practice serving both public and private sector clients is seeking a Civil Engineer. This role is open in our Bristol, Tennessee, Princeton, West Virginia, or Radford or Wise, Virginia offices.
Ideal Candidate:
- 4 to 10+ years of experience in civil or environmental engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or eligibility to sit for the exam
- Strong background in utilities and treatment plant design
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Civil Engineering or related field
- PE registration in the Commonwealth of Virginia or ability to obtain licensure within 6 to 12 months
- Strong proficiency in WaterCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D
- U.S. citizenship
- Knowledge of municipal and applicable local, state, and federal agency regulations to determine design parameters
- Familiarity with agency procedures and regulations for municipal water and wastewater systems
- Ability to develop conceptual layouts based on clientsÂ’ objectives and due diligence work
- Experience managing, planning, and providing design or design oversight of water/wastewater line and plant projects
- Ability to perform supporting calculations to demonstrate designs meet all applicable regulations
- Experience preparing technical specifications and construction cost estimates
- QA/QC of own designs and designs completed by others
- Ability to recognize developing technical problems and initiate appropriate corrective actions
- Responsibility for organizing all aspects of submittals and deliverables
- Ability to monitor own work and that of project team to ensure budgets and schedules are met
- As experience progresses, ability to train less experienced team members in technical design, processing, and company procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the design of water distribution or sewerage collection systems
- Experience in the design of water/wastewater treatment plants
- EI with 4-5 years of experience and close to obtaining P.E.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and a friendly demeanor
- Enthusiasm for generating and pursuing business opportunities
- Strong self-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
