$70k - $85K
Fischer Land Surveying & Engineering of Langdon, ND is seeking an Engineer in Training (EIT) to join our company. Candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in civil or construction engineering. We primarily serve NE ND and NW MN but have also done work across the state of ND. We have continued to grow our client base and projects over the past 28 years, striving to provide the most accurate and quality services for our clients. We are a small company where every employee plays an important role. We design open channel drains and have helped create 30 assessment drains in northeastern ND. The advantage of working for a small firm is you get to take a project from conception to construction. In addition, we do other engineering projects such as site design and layout for convenience stores, agricultural facilities and commercial buildings.
Full-time M-F. Wage depending on experience. $70,000-$85,000
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage small to mid-size projects, client and contractor agreements and budgets.
- Effectively write and prepare technical engineering reports, plans and specifications for construction projects.
- Assist in field operations as needed; this may include construction inspection, survey and other forms of field engineering. Oversee construction activities and compliance with construction documents.
- Consult with clients and contractors to plan and develop strategies for their civil engineering design and support needs. Provide general oversight with contractors and sub-contractors.
- Gather field survey data to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, contours, etc. through the use of conventional surveying and GPS methods. Prepares accurate field notes, drawings and records change in conditions while in field.
- Ensure schedules and productivity objectives are achieved.
- Candidate may be required to help with land surveying as needed. Training will be provided.
- Ensure work vehicle is supplied with stakes, flagging, lath, etc.
- Responsible for keeping track of oil changes or routine maintenance due on survey vehicle or UTV in advance so they can be scheduled for maintenance in a timely manner.

Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil/Construction Engineering with coursework in hydrology/hydraulics/ soil mechanics/construction and business coursework. Individual must have passed their FE exam and 2+ years of experience. The ideal candidate would have experience in municipal/buildings and highway design. Preference will be given to an individual with a desire to pursue his or her PE license.
- Excellent computer and strong technical skills, including Microsoft Office, AutoCad/Civil 3D.
- Must be detail orientated, self-motivated with the ability to think independently, and have strong listening, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to speak and write English clearly.
- Display a high level of initiative and ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with clear expectations and timeliness.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record and provide a drug test if asked to do so.
- Applicant will be both indoors and outdoors and be capable of lifting 50-75# and do manual field labor tasks such as clearing vegetation, driving in rebar/lathe for staking, be able to walk on uneven terrain and be capable of standing or walking for long periods.
