Job Description
Mechanical Systems Engineering is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join our multi-discipline team of system and infrastructure Engineers. Mechanical Systems Engineering works collaboratively to support preventative maintenance, emergent repairs, and renovation projects for systems and facility infrastructure located at our Niskayuna, NY site. Typical projects include civil and structural evaluations in support of road, building, underground utilities, and roof repairs; supporting identification of utilities for excavations; engineering support of recapitalization projects, including concept designs, evaluations, contract documents, construction cost estimates, and project follow; and maintenance and operational support of emergent issues.
The Civil Engineer will be relied on to mentor and train developing civil/mechanical engineers in the Mechanical Systems Engineering unit. The selected individual will be expected to work along an Operating Projects unit and a Facility Design unit to recapitalize aging site systems and infrastructure. The Civil Engineer will be expected to help project management in driving the resolution of emergent and complex work. The Civil Engineer will also be relied on for analysis of applicable environmental regulations, work controls safeguards, and procedures for both maintenance and project execution.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge and experience with the design, operation, and maintenance of civil infrastructure, including interfacing with mechanical systems
- Demonstrated leadership skills for mentoring a team of lesser experienced engineers and team management of work tasks, both planned and emergent
- Experience performing engineering tasks as a civil engineer from concept design through construction closeout, specifications, calculations, troubleshooting, and cost estimates
- Engineering consulting experience
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and their application with respect to site systems and infrastructure.
- Inspection and assessment of existing structures (e.g., building roofing and siding, and underground utilities)
- Construction inspection experience
- Proficient in technical writing
- Ability to effectively interact with project teams

Pay Range
