SUMMARY: The Program Director will be responsible for operation of the Center for Independent Living (CIL) serving the communities of Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence, Mercer and Westmoreland counties and overseeing the five core services of advocacy, information and referral, skills training, peer support, and transition support.
This position requires Regular travel Between all offices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
The ability to organize and motivate staff and others towards successful completion of organizational goals and objectives.
A thorough knowledge of and commitment to the independent living movement and its philosophy, including how center operations are different from traditional organizations serving people with disabilities.
Knowledge of program standards within the independent living movement.
Personnel management skills, experience, and knowledge.
Knowledge of evaluation systems and how such systems may be applied to programs and services of the center. Prepare staff evaluations as needed.
Leadership and organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks, prioritize work effectively and use judgment and discretion in decision-making.
Ability to prepare, analyze and articulate the achievements of the
organization throughout the year by completing and submitting the annual 704 report and monthly reports to the Board.
Actively participate in the delivery of services and/or the implementation of public relations, special events, marketing, and fundraising activities, as requested, on behalf of the CIL and other corporate entities.
Model integrity, personal and professional ethics, and maintain confidential consumer information.
Articulate DON’s mission and goals and accurately describes the program services and outcomes for all corporate entities.
Model teamwork by giving credit where credit is due, accepting responsibility, welcoming input from others and checking with co-workers regularly to ensure that work flows smoothly and lines of communication remain open.
Maintain a positive working relationship with consumers, coworkers and referral sources which encourages positive networking for the benefit of the consumers and organization.
Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent from four-year College or university school; or three years supervisory experience in a disability-related organization. Personal experience with a disability. Some experience managing a diverse staff and providing support to that staff.
