Position: Child Nutrition Manager

BASIC FUNCTION
To assist the Child Nutrition Consultant / Director in administering a district-wide Child Nutrition Program. Directly manage and supervise Child Nutrition staff.
DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITES
Responsibilities:
- Monitors employee work assignments, schedules, and adherence to policy and procedure.
- Supervises and evaluates Child Nutrition personnel.
- Provides team leadership by ensuring cohesiveness at each site.
- Accountable for the execution of standards, policies, and procedures.
- Monitors sites for compliance with sanitation code and food safety standards.
- Promotes a safe work environment through staff training and safety inspections
- Monitors and assists office staff to ensure timeliness of meal application processing, reports, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Assess training needs and conducts ongoing regular training.
Duties:
- Visit schools on a daily basis to monitor compliance with standards, assess training needs, and implement actions for improvement.
- Prepare and update weekly and monthly reports.
- Manage employee by providing positive and constructive feedback to employees, reward, coach, correct and motivate.
- Maintain high level of customer service throughout the department
- Assist in the direction of daily food service operations.
- Manage and oversee catering events.
- Maintain knowledge of policies and regulations pertaining to Child Nutrition programs.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in food systems management, nutrition, management, or hotel and restaurant management.
- Supervisor/Managerial experience: 2 years
- Certification requirement: Food Safety Certified
- License requirement: Possession of a valid California driver’s license and maintenance of clear driving record a condition of employment
- Knowledge of: Modern methods of computers and equipment used in food service. Labor laws, labor union contracts and human resource management.
Ability To
- Assist in implementing a district-wide school nutrition program.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Child Nutrition employees, custodians, administration, teachers, students, parents and community members.
- Analyze the food service operation and recommend actions to improve efficiency, customer service, and nutrition.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Set priorities, plan, and coordinate work activities.
- Work productively and effectively in fast paced, stressful, demanding, and/or ambiguous work environment.
Working Conditions
- Physical Demands: Typical physical demands are required to perform the work, such as walking, standing, bending, lifting and carrying of light items. Exposure to temperature extremes from zero degrees to 95 degrees.
