Holding Hands Inc. is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Developmental Interventionist.

Schedule: In clinic and in home
- Sessions are primarily 1-2 hours each and take place in the clients’ homes, community or at one of our clinics.
- Appointment based scheduling with an average of 20 hours per week minimum.
- Majority of sessions take place after school hours up until 8:00pm.
- Weekends are an option as well between 9:00am – 4:00pm
- Part-time with the opportunity to become full-time depending on your availability and the clients in your area.
- Must be comfortable with a 20 miles or 30 minute commute to client sessions
A Day in the life of a Developmental Interventionist:
Developmental Interventionists will be using a model of intervention referred to as DIR®/ Floortime™. D.I.R which stands for Developmental, Individual Difference, Relationship-based modality. Some of the techniques used are referred to as Floortime™ which is a specific technique to both follow the individual’s natural emotional interests (lead) and at the same time challenge the individual towards mastery of the social, emotional, and intellectual capacities. We also assess individuals through a D.I.R lens and when targeting adaptive domains, we incorporate a person-centered approach to motivate, empower, and ensure the individual is respected by providing choices.
- Conducts an Adaptive Skills DIR®/ Floortime™ sessions with your clients, focusing on engaging them in relationship-based interactions that promotes social-emotional development and communication skills. You follow their lead, joining in their play and expanding on their interests to encourage growth and engagement.
- Depending on the stage of development, interest, and targeted goals we may use toys, games, sensory motor activities, music, social-emotional dyadic lessons and teach life skills, self-care, play skills, social skills, and communication.
- Throughout the day, the interventionist maintains a supportive and nurturing environment, fostering relationships with the client and their families. They prioritize flexibility, creativity, and empathy in their interactions, recognizing each client's unique strengths and challenges.
- Foster your clients' growth and support them in achieving their goals and potential. Always acknowledge and celebrate their advancements throughout the journey!
What you bring to the table:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum 1 year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities (paid or unpaid)
- Valid driver’s license, reliable source of transportation, and active auto insurance
- Must be able to lift at least 10 pounds, sit on the floor, and run as needed
- Passion for working with children, youth, and young adults with developmental disabilities
Preferred Qualifications
- CPR certification in both pediatrics and adults
- Experienced and comfortable managing a wide variety of behaviors and working with individuals with support needs ranging from low to high.
- Bilingual
