Responsibilities:
1. Review title and prepare title commitment packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
2. Provide legal guidance on underwriting issues and risk management, demonstrating a deep understanding of the title and mortgage industry.
3. Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks.
4. Develop and implement underwriting policies and procedures in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
5. Offer legal advice and support on complex underwriting issues and transactions.
6. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws related to mortgage lending and underwriting.
7. Participate in the development of strategic business plans, contributing to the overall growth and success of the company.
Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
2. Active license to practice law in Maryland.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in the mortgage industry, with a focus on underwriting and risk management.
4. Strong knowledge of mortgage lending and underwriting laws and regulations.
5. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
7. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal professionals.
8. High level of integrity and professionalism.
